Slow cooker zesty chicken is one of my favorite ways to eat chicken. The mixture of ingredients aren’t ones you would normally put together, yet they work so well. The sweet and salty balance in this recipe is so delicious. When the chicken is slow cooking, the sauce turns into a sticky sauce and coats the chicken perfectly.

This recipe was passed down to me from my grandma Alexa. She says that to this day, it is one of her favorite recipes. She makes big batches of chicken and freezes them individually with some of the sauce and they make a quick and easy meal for her. Her mom started making this when she was a little girl, so it has stood the test of time.

Aside from making this in the slow cooker, you can also make it in the oven. You could also add veggies into the slow cooker or the oven with the chicken and sauce and you’ll have a perfect dinner all in one pot!

How to make slow cooker zesty chicken

The chicken: You can use any kind of chicken you’d like. Breasts, thighs, wings or drumsticks. You can’t go wrong!

The sauce: It may not look like a lot of sauce when you make it, but once it starts to heat up, it will melt and coat all of your chicken.

Serving: This chicken can be eating so many ways. It’s great over rice, on top of a bed of cooked veggies, it tastes great cold in a salad or in a wrap. It’s also great for meal prep for a week’s worth of lunch!
